Firearms Recall Announced by Remington Arms Company

Product liability law covers a wide range of products from food, pharmaceuticals, vehicles, and clothing. In fact, this area of the law even covers products that many people already consider to be dangerous, such as firearms. However, just because an item can be dangerous, does not mean that when used properly it should pose danger to the user. That is why items like firearms are included under product liability law. Despite these being weapons, manufacturers and companies are still liable to ensure that these products are still safe for the user and free of defects that could pose serious personal injuries or death from normal use.

According to an article by The Daily Caller, the popular firearms company Remington Arms Company, LLC announced a product recall for several of its popular models. Company engineers determined that several of the models’ triggers could unintentionally discharge in certain circumstances. The affected models include the Model 700, the Model Seven rifles, and those with the X-Mark Pro triggers. These were all manufactured between May 1, 2006 through April 9, 2014.

Company engineers have described several factors in this defect. Some of the triggers may have excess bonding agent that was used in the assembly process. Because of this, the company is recalling all affected products. Customers are to stop using these guns immediately and are not attempt to repair the guns themselves.
